On and off the red carpet the 2022 MTV VMAs have already proved spectacular. Lizzo in couture Jean Paul Gaultier. Taylor Swift in the new naked dress. While we continue to gush over the red carpet, it’s the ceremony and all the performances where the annual event really comes alive. It was Jack Harlow who set the tone at the Prudential Center in Newark tonight with his live rendition of the hit single “First Class”.
The performance opened in the first class cabin of the plane with the likes of Lil Nas X, Chloe Bailey and Jimmy Fallon making a live cameo. But it was a rare appearance from Fergie that had the audience (including Swift) in hysterics. For the first time in four years the singer took to the stage to perform her bridge of “Glamorous” which was sampled by the 24-year-old artist.
Are you ready?!

It arrived after rumours that the early noughts star would make a cameo when Daily Mail reported that she was rehearsing at the Prudential Center last week. And can we say, she hasn’t aged a day.
Fergie found fame with hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas when she featured in their hit track “Shut Up”. She went onto appear in the 2003 album Elephunk, Monkey Business in 2005 and The E.N.D in 2009. She released her debut album The Dutchess in 2006 featuring hit songs likes “Glamorous”, “Fergalicious” and “London Bridge”. Her last album was released in 2017.
Harlow has certainly had a busy evening serving as host, performer and is also nominated for seven awards alongside collaborator, Lil Nas X.
