@OOROYALMIRAGE

Nestled in the lush 65-acre garden of the legendary One&Only Royal Mirage is Eauzone; a luxurious oasis awaiting sun-deprived bodies that have been hibernating all summer long. Fortunately, we fall into that category and so were excited to thoroughly test the waters (ha) and inspect how Eauzone is adapting to the new normal (hard work, but someone has to do it).

We were greeted with temperature checks and automatic sanitiser dispensers upon entering the hotel and were shown to our (appropriately distanced) loungers by super-polite staff who then sanitised the area and provided us with newly unwrapped towels to use for the afternoon. After a quick change, we returned to find a cooler filled with bottles of water and glasses to keep us hydrated throughout our stay.

A TRANQUIL OASIS, YOU’LL FEEL MILES AWAY FROM THE BUSTLING CITY

Eauzone is a family friendly pool – complete with a slide – however the area is so large that child-averse individuals can relax without hearing “Canonball!” all afternoon. Saunter around the grounds and you’ll find a kilometre of pristine beach perfect for leisurely sunset strolls; there are loungers here if you prefer to relax ocean-side. You’ll also find an area with a volleyball net, table tennis and other activities if your children are sufficiently waterlogged and looking for other ways to stay busy.

Come mid-afternoon we donned our masks and made our way over to the Eauzone restaurant adjacent to the pool, where we chose to dine outdoors overlooking the beach. Indoor seating is also available, as are picnic-style tables on the sand. We tucked in to beach-side classics from the daytime menu: a club sandwich, Caesar salad and Caprese salad accompanied by the best iced tea we have ever tasted. We may or may not have had three each. The meal was as wonderful as the setting and was made even better by outstanding staff – a special shout-out to Harmony and Ridho for looking after us every step of the way.

THE GIANT POOL COMES EQUIPPED WITH A SLIDE FOR YOUNG DAYCATIONERS

As expected, this was one place we did not want to leave. After our bikinis had been packed away and our after-sun was applied, we lazed on the beach as the sun dipped into the ocean and found ourselves saying “Same thing next weekend?”.
