During the pandemic, when international travel is reserved for emergencies and your summer wardrobe lies unworn at the back of your closet, your sun-soaked holiday can seem like a distant dream. Well, we’re here to tell you that you can make your dream a reality simply by visiting The Anantara Resort on The Palm Jumeirah.

Be transported to your dream holiday from the moment you set foot on the property’s sprawling grounds complete with lush gardens, four swimming pools and a 400-metre stretch of pristine beach.

THE MAIN POOL AT ANANTARA THE PALM

We booked our daycation on a Saturday so the main pool was full of like-minded sunworshippers, therefore we took to the quieter beach area and set up camp for the day. We were greeted by friendly staff – we were still talking about how wonderful they were long after we had left – who informed us that the Dhs270 pool and beach access fee was totally redeemable against the resort’s restaurants; whether you choose to dine beachside at The Beach House or at any of the other six restaurants Anantara has to offer.

THE RESORT’S POOLSIDE VILLAS ARE SEPARATED BY LOUNGERS IN SECLUDED GARDENS

The main pool was bustling but didn’t feel overcrowded – an important feature given the circumstances – and this is where we took our first dip of the day. Upon exploring the grounds, however, we discovered a hidden gem; a lagoon-style pool that twists and turns through Thai-inspired villas and palm tree islands. We were instantly relaxed thanks to the tranquil surroundings and thought the day couldn’t get much better… until we found another lagoon pool hidden around the corner. Upon discovery, we promptly grabbed our belongings from the beach and transferred them to secluded loungers in private gardens dotted alongside the pool’s edge.

When it came time for lunch, we sauntered over to The Beach House and nibbled on a fresh Greek salad and delicious, light sandwiches perfect for a day spent swimming. We spent the remainder of the day forgetting the week prior while snacking on a refreshing fruit platter in an attempt to use up all of our food and beverage credit (seriously, Dhs270 is a lot).

WE LOVED THE IN-POOL SANDY SLOPE THAT MIMICS THE BEACH

Anantara’s lush gardens, pristine beach and unique lazy river-style pools created the daycation trifecta resulting in a blissful day that we won’t soon forget and would be hard-pressed to find at another location. (FYI, that’s because it doesn’t exist).
