The Dubai Film and TV Commission (DFTC) has put out a call for talent in the UAE and beyond for Emirati screenwriters. The organisation is giving away the chance to bring your scripts to Bollywood so that they can come to life on the silver screen. The contest is called “The Ticket to Bollywood,” and you must be Emirati and 18 years old or over to enter. If you meet the requirements, you must register for the contest by uploading your interest, experience and portfolio to the DFTC website. The organisation will pan through the entrants and select those who will continue onto the next round: storytelling. You’ll enter an original story that falls within the contest’s chosen genres (drama, action, thriller or romance), which will then be judged by a panel of leaders in the film industry. A few screenwriters’ stories will be selected from there, and formed into feature-length scripts for the participating Bollywood production studios.

“The Ticket to Bollywood” is an exciting collaboration between the DFTC and some of the most prominent Indian film studios in the business. The decision to come together to expand the reach of Emirati talent stemmed from their longstanding relationship with one another. Between films like Happy New Year (2014) to Laxmmi Bomb (2020), many Bollywood directors have used Dubai as their primary filming location, producing films both regions can appreciate. “The Ticket to Bollywood” contest is an extraordinary opportunity for artists from both cultures to unite and amplify their relationships through creative collaboration. Not only can talented Emirati scriptwriters get a chance to flex their skills and love for the industry, but they will also learn from some of the most well-known talents within it. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance for screenwriters to tell the story they’ve likely been working on for years. Register for the contest from now until September 4th at the DFTC website.
