Anne Hathaway is everywhere right now.
Between the Devil Wears Prada sequel buzz and what can only be described as a full-blown cultural renaissance, the internet has decided it is firmly in its Anne Hathaway era. And honestly, we’re here for it.
But nothing could have prepared us for the moment that has TikTok in an absolute chokehold this week.
While making the rounds on the press circuit, the actress sat down with People Magazine, where she got candid about ageing in Hollywood and what life looks like at 43, especially as an individual who has been in this industry for over two decades.
The conversation was a reflective one where she discussed finally valuing “the chill,” about not getting swept up in the highs and lows the way she used to, about approaching each new decade with curiosity rather than fear.
And then, in the middle of all that wisdom, she said, “I want to have a long, healthy life, Inshallah. I hope so.”

Naturally, the statement, which is somewhat unexpected, has sent the internet into a frenzy.
The video of the People interview has now garnered over two million views on TikTok, with a slew of comments praising “sister Anne”.
“INSHALLAH TOOK ME OUT,” one person commented.
“Inshallah my princess of Genovia!!!” another exclaimed, referring to the actress’ previous role in The Princess Diaries.
“The inshallah I’m dead,” one other added.
For the uninitiated, Inshallah – إن شاء الله – is one of the most widely used expressions across the Muslim world and the broader Middle East and North Africa.
Rooted in the Qur’an, it translates literally to “if God wills it,” and is for the 1.8 billion Muslims around the world. It’s a statement that is often used in everyday life and colloquialisms.
You’ll hear versions of it across Arabic, Urdu, Turkish, Farsi, Swahili, and dozens of other languages.

So, perhaps hearing Anne Hathaway has Inshallah in her everyday vocabulary wasn’t on our 2026 bingo card, but we’re here for it nonetheless.
The timing, too, is everything. With Devil Wears Prada 2 on the horizon and Hathaway firmly back in the cultural conversation, the internet was already primed to love her.
She’s back, she’s gracefully ageing, and she’s saying Inshallah on camera with zero hesitation. Inshallah, we all move like this at 43.
