Yes, you’ve probably heard this before, but we need to say it again: facials are the key to healthy, hydrated and glowing skin. No amount of at-home pimple-popping or tippy-tapping on your cheekbones will equate to a 90-min sesh with a professional, which is what makes Dior’s latest announcement so darn exciting. According to a statement from the brand, Dior is partnering with The BeautyHealth Company (also known as NASDAQ:SKIN), to deliver a new treatment – The Dior Powered by Hydrafacial Experience –exclusively at Dior Spas from April 2023.

So, who is The BeautyHealth Company?

The BeautyHealth company is on a mission to combine the health and beauty industries, using innovation to “challenge the norm” and “disrupt” with their flagship brand, HydraFacial. In fact, they believe that the industry has made skincare “confusing, fragmented, often expensive, and ultimately unapproachable to most people”, which is why they want to “reinvent” our relationships with our skin, bodies and self-confidence.

What is HydraFacial?

Ah, we’re glad you asked! The HydraFacial brand coined the term “hydradermabrasion”, which is essentially a newer, non-invasive type of microdermabrasion that renews skin using a patented delivery system to blast water (or a water-based solution) onto skin, instead of abrasive materials like crystals.

There are three main steps to a HydraFacial experience: cleanse, extract and hydrate. With this basic formula as a base, each experience can then be customised. During the cleansing stage, a gentle peel is usually used to reveal a new layer of skin, then impurities are painlessly removed with a suction method during the extraction stage, and finally, the third phase calls for skin to be completely saturated with intense, nourishing moisturisers that are personalised to you.

Where does Dior come into it?

This is the exciting part – Dior and The BeautyHealth Company are working together to elevate the HydraFacial experience, creating a new type of facial that follows the same core formula, but utilises Dior Beauty’s unrivalled skincare formulas.

The Dior Powered by HydraFacial Experience is designed to combine beauty, wellness and luxury into one 90-minute event. It does this by beginning with the Dior Floral Peeling Lotion, which uses 93% natural ingredients to renew skin and rebuild the skin barrier using a combination of AHAs, BHAs and vitamin PP – known to increase collagen and elastin production. When this formula is combined with HydraFacial’s patented application technology, it allows for maximum absorption and perfectly preps skin for the more bespoke part of the treatment, where your facialist will assess your skin needs and use “Dior gestures” to massage in further formulas.

In a statement from BeautyHealth President and Chief Executive Officer Andrew Stanleick, “The Dior Powered By HydraFacial Experience is a perfect example of our commitment to providing category-creating protocols and forging partnerships with the best in beauty and skincare.”

Virginie Couturaud, Scientific Communication Director at Parfums Christian Dior also said: “This partnership with HydraFacial is part of our commitment to develop treatment protocols with the ultimate goal of rejuvenating the skin to reverse the signs of ageing. This treatment has been developed to capitalise on the HydraFacial experience and reinforce its effectiveness with the power of the Dior Floral Peeling Lotion, which uses a new-generation active ingredient, PHA (polyhydroxyacids) and niacinamide, which are essential for the quality of skin texture. The skin is then perfectly receptive to the holistic treatments developed by the Dior Spa, providing spectacular and visible skin results during a deep moment of wellness.”

April 2023 can’t come soon enough…
