The result of a partnership between the Abu Dhabi Investment Office and Sotheby’s, Collector’s Week is a highly anticipated and fresh fixture in the Art World calendar. This debut event will feature the first-ever luxury auction series to be held in the Middle East, with $250 million of items available through public auction and private sale.
Collector’s Week will present a destination for discovery aimed at discerning collectors and open to the public. Amongst the Birkins, F1 racing cars and artworks on display are a selection of fine and high jewellery sourced from an important private collection. Headlining this important sale is the Desert Rose Diamond.
The Desert Rose is a record-breaking diamond that has found its spiritual home in Abu Dhabi.
First unveiled earlier this year at Sotheby’s Beyond: The World’s Rarest Diamonds exhibition held in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office, this unprecedented pear-shaped stone is the largest Fancy Vivid Orangy Pink Diamond in the world.

Weighing 31.86 carats, the Desert Rose combines an unusual combination of a pink body colour and orange hues, resulting in a “rare blush colour.” Never before offered for sale on the open market, the Desert Rose is estimated at from $5 million to $7 million.
Offered alongside the Desert Rose is a collection of fine jewellery crafted by some of the world’s most prestigious maisons, including Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, Bulgari, Tiffany & Co. and Boivin. Further fancy coloured diamonds to be sold include diamond clip earrings, set with pink and green GIA certified pear shape stones, estimated at $100,000 to $200,0000.
Suppose old-cut diamonds are your preference, a stunning 1970s Verdura ‘X’ ring is estimated at $120,000 to $180,000, and represents the fancy cut diamonds. In that case, there is a Bvlgari 4.02 carat D colour, internally flawless marquise cut diamond solitaire ring offered at $80,000 to $120,000.
Sotheby’s Collector’s Week will also host exclusive exhibitions, including the chance to see the largest deep green diamond in the world and the largest flawless diamond in the world. Talks from fine jewellers Hemmerle as well as Sotheby’s specialists will offer visitors a real insight into the world of collecting and a deeper understanding of the diamonds on display.
Sotheby’s Collector’s Week is free and open to the public. Collector’s Week will take place from December 2 to December 5. Precision and Brilliance: Prestigious Jewels and Watches from an Important Private Collection will sell on December 5 from 6pm onwards.
