In the ’00s, Cameron Diaz was the moment and starred in some of our most beloved films to-date including Charlie’s Angels and The HolidayIn 2014 she quietly stepped away from Hollywood, telling Gwyneth Paltrow for Goop in 2018 she had retired to “really focus on my personal life, my personal relationships, my family, my friends.”

After eight years since appearing on the silver screen, it seems a persuasive Jamie Foxx and an attractive Netflix deal has seen the actress return from retirement. “Cameron I hope you aren’t mad I recorded this, but no turning back now,” Foxx wrote in a tweet which was accompanied by a phone recording. “Had to call in the GOAT to bring back another GOAT. @CameronDiaz and I are BACK IN ACTION – our new movie with @NetflixFilm. Production starting later this year!! 🦊🐐”

NFL star Tom Brady made a cameo on the recording telling Cameron that she may need some tips on “un-retiring”.

Diaz confirmed the news on Instagram stories, writing, “Jamie Foxx, only you could get me back in action!!! I can’t frickin wait it’s gonna be a blast!”

Back In Action is reportedly directed by Seth Gordon (Horrible Bosses) from a script he wrote with Brendan O’Brien (Neighbours). Foxx will serve as an executive producer alongside Datari Turner, O’Brien and Mark McNair. Producing the film is Beau Bauman (Central Intelligence) for Good One Productions as well as the aforementioned Gordon via Exhibit A.

There are currently no details on the plot which will begin filming later this year.

During her retirement Diaz married Benji Madden in 2015 and welcomed a baby girl named Raddix in 2019.
