Beyoncé is the definition of never taking your foot off the pedal.

On the last stop of her record smashing world tour, Beyoncé debuted the trailer to Renaissance: The Film. A movie depicting the inception, development and byproduct of the pop idol’s highest grossing tour to date. Never shying away from showing the girt of her craft, she showcases intimate moments of doubt, restless stretches of rehearsals and her uncompromising involvement in every stage of her productions.

In cinemas later this year, this tour was the first to feature her eldest daughter as an integral part to her stage. And the film continues to be an extension of her familial core, as snippets of her children and husband, rapper Jay Z, flash through the trailer. The Grammy winner has spoken extensively about the intricacies of motherhood and pressures of being a partner while fulfilling her art. The gruesome hours, the demanding strength that evade the physical and torment the mental. Beyoncé unveils the lows and unapologetically bears her heartaches, allowing her fans to peek past the curtains.

 “I AM NOTHING BUT FREE”

And free she is. Through her tour she created a space of untapped, undisturbed collective joy. Where listeners could attend as whatever version of themselves and explore the immensity of their uniqueness. Echoing the album’s tone of eternal freedom, “create the new,” rings in the background. In a world where few get the luxury of experiencing freeness, in all of the heavy words depth. Beyoncé extends it past the arenas she fostered it in, and onto our screens to be experienced beyond her presence.

Who said freedom can’t be achieved in breathtaking attire? The endlessly glamorous costumes she sported throughout the tour flicker and dance through the screen. From Elie Saab’s Haute Couture gown, which inaugurated the tour, to Amina Muaddi’s black satin Camellia’s. The Queen Bey solidifies that the Atlantis The Royal will not be the last time she basks in the work of Arab designers.

“Be careful what you ask for, ‘cause I just might comply,” she captions the trailer. Well boy, are we glad we asked.
