When in doubt, opt for the vanilla perfume. (Instagram @kayali)

We clearly remember one of the first perfumes we ever bought back in our tween years. It was a vanilla scented, caramel inspired bomb of oozing sweetness from Victoria’s Secret. While it was not a mature scent to say the least, it certainly satisfied our ego as we walked through the grade seven hallways between classes while in secondary school. We no longer seek to smell like a sugar cookie but we do still love the scent of vanilla perfume. These days we’re opting for a more provacative take on this classic fragrance. We’ve certainly come a long way, baby.

YSL Libre Eau de Parfum Intense is a floral take on vanilla. (Instagram @yslbeauty)

Florals meet vanilla with YSL’s Libre Eau de Parfum Intense (Dhs465, Bloomingdale’s). According to YSL, this vanilla perfume “features signature notes of lavender essence from France and Moroccan orange blossom combined with glowing orchid and warm vanilla to push the perfume to the extreme.” The scent is as beautiful and feminine as it’s packaging with the YSL “signature Cassandre logotype, freely bent and nailed into the glass like a jewel.”
