If 2021 did one thing right, it gave us industry-disrupting intimate wellness brand Ketish and its mission to open and normalise the conversation around feminine hygiene. We could almost hear the barriers breaking down when Ketish successfully launched their notable first product, pre-play intimate sheets, aptly named The Quickie. Now Ketish is debuting their second product, The Potion, a soothing aromatherapy oil set to promote comfort and self-love throughout all stages of the menstrual cycle. We recently chatted with Ketish founder and CEO, Emaan Abbass, to learn about her inspiration behind creating The Potion as well as her aim to uplift and empower women with her progressive brand.
“Every woman has a journey”
Those were the words Emaan said to us as we sat down to discuss The Potion. Emaan referenced an experience she recently had with a woman, who approached her while she was out in public in Dubai to thank her for bringing the topic of feminine wellness to the limelight. Emaan tell us that her desire for “women to see themselves in Ketish” is working, as she continually gets messages from those who are both inspired and empowered by her initial product launch. As this once taboo topic is now emerging in conversations throughout the region, Emaan says she is “honoured to have a seat at the table.” She certainly does, as her voice is an instrumental part of this movement. Afterall, Ketish is the first feminine wellness brand in the United Arab Emirates.
Erasing shame
Growing up with the notion that “feminine health and wellness should be handled behind closed doors” brought a “sense of shame” to Emaan and her peers. She reflects that “they weren’t the only ones who felt this way and women collectively around the world are taught from a young age that the health and changes within their bodies should be dealt with privately.” Determined to eradicate this outdated and unnecessary sentiment through all facets of her brand, Emaan does not allow the use of photoshop or filters in any of Ketish’s media in order to promote body positivity. She tells us she’s determined to “foster a community where women can lean into each other and feel proud of their bodies, not ashamed.” This conviction ties into her new product, The Potion.
The Potion
As someone who has struggled with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome as well as a bout of cervical cancer, Emaan shares that her health issues were a catalyst for her “to become aware of the ingredients she was both putting in and on her body.” As she delved deeper into discovering natural remedies to soothe her body aches and pains as well as muscular cramps, she discovered what she calls “feminine health super oils.” Combining her social mission with her entrepreneurial prowess, Emaan decided to bottle up her natural remedy and share its magic with the masses.

As we open the sultry, taupe chic bottle (no doubt, conceptualised by Emaan. Her sophisticated French manicure solely using matte and glossy black nail polish showed us she has an exquisite eye for trends and design), we took a deep inhalation of this aromatic elixir and were instantly transported to a feeling of balance, peace, and harmony. Emaan has created something that we suddenly realise we cannot live without. She goes onto share that The Potion is a product that can be used anytime, anywhere throughout the day and night. She’s worked this fast-absorbing oil into her bedtime routine, which she describes as being “sacred.” Every night, Emaan massages The Potion on her temples and puts a touch of this relaxation-inducing oil under her nose. She tells us she also puts “a few drops in her oil diffuser to have the scent dissippate throughout her bedroom as well.” Self-love, indeed.
