Whether you’re sick of it or not, Barbie mania isn’t slowing down in the UAE – and the film hasn’t even officially premiered here yet.
In the latest regional takeover of the world of Barbie, a UAE-based artist has transformed the emirate of Dubai into a vision of pink.
Digital artist Jyo John Mulloor, who has been behind a number of well-known online art projects including ‘Let It Bloom Dubai’, unveiled his latest series of AI-generated pieces, all of which alter Dubai landmarks into a pink oasis ahead of the premiere of the film in the UAE on Thursday, August 10.
From the Burj Khalifa to the Dubai Frame to the Queen Elizabeth 2 ship, the artist reimagined the emirate in the most spectacular Barbie-themed way, dedicating the project to his “Barbie-loving daughter”.

Barbie & the Burj Khalifa
The transformation of Dubai into a pink oasis isn’t the only Barbie-themed stunt that’s got the emirate talking.
From Barbie salon deals to Barbie-themed food, it seems as of late it’s been Barbie’s world and we’re all just living in it. The peak of Barbie fever, however, has to be from a video by a UAE-based creative agency which went completely viral a couple of weeks ago.
In true Dubai style of “go big or go home”, a video of a giant Barbie doll standing nearly as tall as the Burj Khalifa spread like wildfire on social media.
In a spectacular CGI video created by regional creative content agency Eye Studio, a giant Barbie doll is seen in her Mattel packaging placed next to the world’s tallest building.
Barbie Release Date Brought Forward
Earlier this week, it was announced the Barbie film – starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling – release date would be brought forward for some nations in the GCC.

Warner Brothers Middle East announced that Barbie would be airing in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, as well as the UAE. But, that’s not the only good news. The release date has been brought forward to this week.
The Barbie movie will premiere on Thursday, August 10, 2023, in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
