Questions surrounding whether the Barbie movie will or won’t air in the Middle East has been dominating conversation in the region for weeks.

At the beginning of July, it was announced the Barbie movie would not premiere on July 21, 2023, in the Middle East, unlike the rest of the world.

Instead, it was confirmed by VOX Cinemas the release would be delayed until August 31. However, questions began to arise if the film would be aired at all in the Middle East.

But, much to the rejoice of many around the region, it was announced by Warner Brothers Middle East that Barbie would be released in the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain at an earlier date – Thursday, August 10, 2023.

However, there are still questions lingering over whether it will air in other countries in the Middle East, including Kuwait.

Will Barbie be released in Kuwait? Here’s what we know so far…

The release of the Barbie movie in Kuwait is currently set for August 31, as per VOX Cinemas.

On the VOX Cinemas Kuwait website, there is still a live website page for information about the upcoming film with information including the release date, trailer, running time and more. But tickets are not available to be booked as of yet.

Meanwhile according to a report by Kuwaiti English language newspaper The Arab Times, “no decision” has been made regarding the release of Barbie.

The newspaper reports “the Ministry of Information decided to review the current version of the movie to determine if it conforms with Kuwaiti values and laws”.

The Arab Times quoted another Kuwait-based outlet, Al Qabas Daily, stating that sources “clarified that the ministry has so far not taken a decision on whether to reject or approve the film”.
