Cartier watch 2023

Since its inaugural convention last year, Watches and Wonders have instantly been established as the premiere calendar event of horological enthusiasts.

Created to promote and celebrate watchmaking excellence and the latest innovations in the field, the tradeshow features watch and jewellery exhibitions from some of the world’s pioneer figures.

Taking place in Geneva this week, more than 180 brands gathered at the event to present their new releases to the public. Of course, with so much going on, there were the brands that stood out, dropping new cutting-edge designs and instant classics that will dominate this year’s timepiece trends.

Ahead, we break down the most noteworthy moments from Watches and Wonder 2023.

Chopard Happysport 25mm

chopard

For those who know the iconic Chopard Happysport, will already be familiar with its appeal. For 2023, the piece is reinvented to a 25 mm diameter case in Lucient Steel. Keeping all its old charm and the playful design of dancing diamonds, it’s still the free-spirited timepiece you know, just more compact for those who prefer something beautiful but subtle.

Chanel Première Camélia X-Ray

Chanel watch 2023

It’s no secret that CHANEL is synonymous with the elegant camellia. Still, its design, with wheels placed to geometrically represent the flower’s layers of petals, is pure magic. For the first time, The Première Squelette Camélia watch also employs precious sapphire as its setting.

Cartier Baignoire Mini Bangle

Cartier BangleFirst created in 1912, the Cartier Baignoire watch has lived many lives. With its core oval frame and bezel intact, we see 2023’s iteration evolve into a slim bangle that will become an instant classic. Inspiring a minimalist ’90s-style aesthetic, it’s the uber-refined timepiece that can easily slide into any modern woman’s collection.

Available in rose gold, yellow gold or fully paved, the new Baignoire celebrates its original forms while sustaining a versatility that leaves the power of change up to its wearer.

Cartier Tank [Un]limited

Carter Tank Unlimited

For its high jewellery showings, Cartier went bold with the [Un]Limited Tank. Featuring rose gold with diamonds, spinels, tsavorites, coral and chrysoprase, the watch has a lot going on. But while listing its assets would be exhausting, there is something magnetic about its design that stops one from looking away.

Hermès Médor Mini Joaillerie

Watches and wonders Hermes watch 2023

Blurring the lines between watches and jewellery once again, Hermès’ new interpretations of the Médor—now miniaturised to 15 mm—is the stuff of dreams. With a square case topped by a pyramid-shaped cabochon and gem set facets concealing an ultra-refined dia, this timepiece is for those who enjoy a bit of mystery.

Fashioned in rose gold, three variations with silver-toned dials dazzle with diamonds set on the cabochon and a gold bracelet, these unique and contemporary watches express the creative audacity and jewellery-making expertise cultivated by the luxury house.

Hermès Arceau Petite Lune

hermes watch

See what the stars have in store for you with this astral-inspired piece by Hermès. Born from the imagination of Henri d’Origny in 1978, the Arceau watch combines understatement and creativity.

Boasting a round white gold case set with 70 diamonds and framed by a halo of diamonds, we see an effect of movement where a freshwater mother-of-pearl moon faces the luminescence of an aragonite planet as if about to eclipse at any moment.

Piaget Limelight High Jewellery Cuff

Watches and wonders Piaget watch

Piaget’s Palace Decor was first developed in the 1960s, inspired by the guilloché technique found in watchmaking. This engraving art begins on a bracelet of gold links. Manually sculpting a multitude of stylised grooves and outlines, each one individual in-depth and thickness. The final result is perfect in its imperfection, distinctive and one-of-a-kind.

Whether it’s the diamonds, the turquoise setting or guilloché gold that crafters would have spent a painstaking amount of time layering and layering on, this watches screams luxury in the most expensive kind of way.

Chopard’s sustainability promise
