Is Scarlett Johansson ready to play amongst the stars? That might be her mission in her upcoming film, a stylish space-age romantic comedy titled Fly Me To The Moon. But at the New York premiere for the Apple TV+ production, the former indie darling turned Marvel superhero took sartorial cues from another facet of 60s Americana; Slim Aarons glamour.

Indeed, the actress embraced the glitz and elegance of the halcyon days of that period in a custom Prada set. The jet-set ensemble featured a cropped halterneck top and slim-cut pencil skirt comprised of the same sand-and-cream gingham print. The check top featured a crystal-encrusted trim, with bejewelled pink and pearlescent gem stones evoking the image of kaleidoscopic cosmic dust.

As the current face of Prada Galleria—a boxy everyday tote bag created in 2007 and named after the Italian Maison’s first flagship—Johansson embodies her role of ambassador by embracing a pattern synonymous with the luxuriate’s storied past. (See Johansson encompass the multi-faceted attitudes of performance in the accessory’s recent campaign video, lensed by Jonothan Glazer who she’d previously worked with in 2013’s Under The Skin, here.)

The Outset skincare founder kept the remainder of her look rather neutral with a strappy pair of intergalactic silver heels and orb-shaped earrings.

Johansson was joined by her co-star Channing Tatum and husband Colin Jost later on the red carpet. Sadly for us, Tatum wasn’t accompanied by his fiancé Zoë Kravitz, though we’ll presumably see them make their red carpet debut during the press run for her directorial debut, Blink Twice.

The Fly Me To The Moon premiere is the latest Hollywood event to commence the summer blockbuster season, with Daisy Edgar-Jones bringing her custom Vivienne Westwood tornado-inspired dress to the premiere of Twisters and Emma Corrin showcasing their fashion superpower during the promotional tour for Deadpool & Wolverine.

In this film, Johansson portrays a strident marketing executive who plans to produce a “backup” artificial moon landing should the Apollo 11 mission go awry. Tatum plays a NASA astronaut, with the pair’s unexpected relationship the gravity holding the film together.

With references to Stanley Kubrick (who, according to conspiracy theorists, recorded what we believe to be the footage of the first man on the moon in a Hollywood basement) and appearances from comedy stars Woody Harrelson and Ray Romano, this release will have you ready for take off. Or as Frank Sinatra sang in the song of the same name, have you see what spring is like on Jupiter and Mars.
