The fanfare of Hollywood never truly stops, despite the façade the annual Oscars and Vanity Fair After Party will have you believe. Indeed, while some members of the film industry take a much-needed reprieve from public view—or more accurately hunker down at home with Great White breakfast burritos—Zoë Kravitz and Channing Tatum have used the quiet time to make a rare public appearance.
The pair returned to the streets of Los Angeles, which, as you’ll recall, served as the locale for their low-key Halloween-themed engagement announcement to support Zoë’s musician father, Lenny Kravitz, as he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. (For those interested in visiting, you can find his name etched into the pavement of Hollywood Boulevard outside the Capitol Records building.)
Similar to the ally cat character she played in the recent Batman film, Kravitz and Tatum have reserved their public appearances for the safety of the evening, where they can sneak in and out of events announced. Yet, here in the daytime, they’ve displayed their love in a whole new light, looking picture-perfect as they sat side-by-side for the industry accolade.
For the daytime soirée, Kravitz looked to a slinky swimsuit-inspired midi from Saint Laurent. Evoking the sultry, 80s-inspired silhouettes that have become synonymous with Anthony Vaccellero’s tenure at the French luxuriate, Kravitz brought a high-voltage touch to the occasion in a strapless two-toned dress cut close to the body. The piece featured an aquamarine bandeau bodice with cutouts on the side and a high-shine navy skirt set on the bias with asymmetrical draping.
Though many were preoccupied with Kravitz and Tatum’s sweet PDA, (see: a gentle hold of the hand and an exchange of giggles), we here at GRAZIA were more curious about Kravitz’s clean girl bun—her hair was more slicked back and in place than at Matilda’s on game day!
Later in the day, Kravitz took to the podium to deliver a toast to her father’s achievements. “According to my dad, if it doesn’t expose your nipples, it’s not a shirt. And sure, it used to embarrass me when you picked me up from school as a kid, but I gotta say, at this point, I respect it,” the Big Little Lies actress fondly said in jest.
“You really do pull it off. Your relationship with a netted shirt is probably your longest one, and it works. You two make each other better, and if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. It’s a beautiful thing.” (For the record, Kravitz wore a satin collared shirt for the career-defying event.
Zoë has certainly set the bar high for affectionate toasts—Lenny, we hope you have a while to prepare something before her and Channing’s big day!
