Whether we are escaping the mundanity of our post-restricted lives or the messiness of our social media feeds, a woman’s night time routine has become a much-needed tool to disconnect and relax. In a new series “How I Wind Down…”, we speak to lot of different women about how they prepare for a restful evening.

Rey Vakili is a woman of many trades. While you may know her as Anna Wintour’s former assistant, she also boasts a degree Yale and Stanford, and nowadays is the managing director of LTK Australia – the influencer-led shopping platform which provides trusted and endorsed product recommendations. All the while she fronts her own social media account with over 40,000 followers. A busy woman needs a good nighttime routine and unsurprisingly, she has it down pat.

Quality over quantity seems to be Vakili’s mantra telling GRAZIA she has a “simple” routine teeming with luxurious skincare that she follows “religiously”. She also lives by a “uniform” which makes getting ready in the morning a breeze. For further insights into her nighttime routine, read below.

GRAZIA: Can you describe your nighttime beauty routine?

“My nighttime beauty routine is super simple but I follow it religiously. I always start by removing my make-up with a foam-based cleanser. I then apply a serum. I love La Mer’s The Concentrate because it has anti-ageing properties and soothes any inflammation on the skin. I finish my nightly skin routine with the original Crème de La Mer. I also love applying Jo Malone’s Sea Salt and Wood Sage body cream before getting into my PJs. It smells divine. Like I said, incredibly simple but it works for me.

How do you wind down after a busy day?

“I wind down with a good book or a great show. I’m currently reading The Palace Papers by Tina Brown and watching The Split on Stan. Evenings are also a time for me to call friends, catch up and have a good laugh.”

How do you decorate your space to assist in falling asleep?

“I keep an eye mask next to my pillow. I don’t sleep with it every night but sometimes I find it helps on those restless evenings when I have a lot on my mind.”

What time do you go to sleep?

“It varies every night. I wish I were more regimented about this as I’m naturally an early riser so if I don’t get to bed early enough, I miss out on precious sleep. Typically, around 11pm, sometimes earlier, sometimes later.”

Do you plan the next day’s look the night before or in the morning? If so, what’s your go-to look for an easy morning the next day?

“Never! If only I were that organised! I really only plan outfits if I have an event on. That said, my day-to-day outfit is more like a uniform so it doesn’t require much forward planning. Usually, its jeans and an oversized sweater. I am loving Khaite and Slvrlake denim at the moment. I’m a creature of habit so when I find something I love that fits well too I like to buy it in a few different colours. If you’re after the exact style and cut I will always link it on my LTK storefront. I love sharing great denim finds and appreciate when others do the same too!”
