Katie Holmes is a fixture on New York City’s Meatpacking District scene. As iconic as the area’s High Line and the Chelsea Market, the Dawson’s Creek alum’s heavy, curtain bangs have been making appearances along the district’s cobblestone streets since September.
On November 27, however, the 44-year-old actress and mother—her daughter Suri Cruise is now 17 years old, can you believe it?—stepped out to attend a Perrier-Jouët pop-up. Her long, brunette hair was styled straight, and her new, eye-skimming curtain bangs kept heavy. A chocolate leather coat, mint knitted sweater and thick-rimmed aviator-style sunglasses—how very Top Gun—completed the 70s vibe. Well, so we thought.
Upon closer inspection, Holmes was wearing a nose ring, an accessory she debuted in January 2022 at the Tribeca Film Festival. (Along with then-beau Bobby Wooten III. According to Town and Country, the couple reportedly split in December of the same year.)
“There’s so much happening in New York, especially after the pandemic,” Holmes told Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest on Live With Kelly & Ryan in March. “Seeing the city shut down and having gone through that, now you want to go to every single [Broadway] show!”
Now with two features under her belt as director, Holmes recently starred in the critically acclaimed play The Wanderers, a story about two couples from very different worlds who, together, face the joys and challenges of commitment, culture, and community—until a surprise email from a movie star puts one of their marriages to an unexpected test.
“Katie really hit the fashion map when she was papped in the matching bra and cardigan by Khaite some years ago,” says GRAZIA’s fashion director Aileen Marr. “Since, every look is elevated, minimal and sleek. This look nods to the 70s in a modern way: the essential leather trench, the oversized frames, the fringe, the nose ring. A spring fling for an urban look. She looks great.”
