It’s only April, but Hunter Schafer has already proven to be the definitive fashion force of 2024. Her sartorial prowess didn’t come out of nowhere, of course—unless you hadn’t been paying close attention, that is. But on the seventh day of this year and in ethereal new season Prada, Schafer took to the red carpet at the Golden Globes to reintroduce herself to style’s lexicon as the ‘Diamond of the season’.
Now, off the back of being one of the first celebrities to wear Maison Margiela’s Belle Epoch-inspired Haute Couture collection and a triumphant nod to Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy at the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party, the actress is flexing the inimitable artistry woven into her public appearances by referencing one of the most influential artists of all time. Indeed, Schafer arrived at the Global Creativity Awards appearing to have just stepped out of Vincent Van Gogh’s ‘Starry Night’.
Schafer took cues from the swirling evening sky rendered by the Dutch artist in post-impressionist strokes by adorning Marni’s interpretation of iconic print. We’re not sure if this is a case of art imitating life or life imitating life, but we’re all ears either way. Showcasing the trompe-l’œil ‘oil on canvas’ piece—which included realistic 3D markings of the motif on her shoes!—as a work of art was a caricature artist who illustrated Schafer’s look in cartoonish glory. Not quite the surreal watercolours we see Schafer herself draw, but a fun red carpet touch nonetheless. This is the Global Creativity Awards, after all!
Schafer was joined by her soon-to-be legendary stylist Dara Allen, and a whole host of who’s-who in the imaginative arts. From Lewis Hamilton in Dior and visionary designers like Emily Adams Bode Aujla, keep scrolling for the best red carpet looks from the awards, below.
