Gigi Hadid is one of the most in-demand faces in the world and, as a regular on red carpets in Hollywood, has naturally had a few high-profile romances over the years.
Like most celebrities, Hadid isn’t super public about her romances. But, still, we’ve managed to glean some insight into her dating history.
Her on/off relationship with Zayn Malik, the father of her daughter Khai, may have been her most notable connection, but there are a few others that have also been confirmed to have won her attention. And as news circulates of a new relationship with an older actor, we thought we might look back at some of her other former flames.
From an early teen romance with an Aussie musician to ‘G.I. Joe’ and other notorious bachelors, here’s a full rundown of everyone Gigi Hadid has confirmed (and rumoured) to have dated
Cody Simpson: 2013-2015
The epitome of young love, Cody Simpson and Gigi Hadid were a low-key romance at first—neither party was as famous as they are today, with Simpson still starting his music career and Hadid not yet at supermodel status.
They first met when Hadid starred in Simpson’s music video for his track ‘Surfboard’, and while their relationship did hit a rough patch in 2014 for a few months, they came back together for another year.
That bump was likely due to Hadid’s star power rising—and, along with it, major media attention.
According to Simpson, this is what led to their eventual breakup. Speaking to DuJour, the singer said, “I love my ex-girlfriend, I always will. It was an amicable, mutual decision, and we still talk every now and then, but the highly publicised thing made me uncomfortable. Going out to dinner and there being all this paparazzi and stuff… As soon as we split, I had the realisation that I was straying away from who I was as a whole person. I want to keep it low-key and focus on my music.”
Daniel Sharman: 2014
During their brief split in 2014, Hadid was linked to Teen Wolf star Daniel Sharman. The pair were seen spending time together in New York in October 2014, but if anything beyond friends was going on, it likely ended due to Hadid giving things with Simpson another try.
Lewis Hamilton: 2015
After breaking up with Cody Simpson, Hadid was rumoured to be seeing British racing driver Lewis Hamilton. The Daily Mail shared photos of Hamilton and Hadid at the Monaco Grand Prix looking close, and the model then shared a group snap (which also featured Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid) to Instagram, captioned, “We love you @lewishamilton. Everyone knows you da champ. #TEAMLH.”
Just friends or something more? We’ll likely never know, but the pair remained close, later starring as the global women’s and men’s ambassadors for Tommy Hilfiger.
Joe Jonas: 2015
Her relationship with Joe Jonas was probably Hadid’s most talked-about relationship prior to Zayn Malik, purely because of its sharp rise and dramatic fall.
The couple met in early 2015 and seemed to fall for each other rapidly—Cara Delevingne famously shared a photo of the pair on Instagram in July, blessing them with their own couple’s name. “Introducing G.I. JOE,” the caption read.
However, by September, their relationship was over—and Jonas took it hard. Why? Because Hadid moved on with Zayn Malik a little quickly for his liking.
“I think it’s interesting that she moved on so quickly. I mean, it was definitely very quick,” he told The Mirror at the time, also deleting a post from his Instagram of himself, Malik and Kanye West he had captioned “#SQUAD”.
Later in 2016, while playing the game ‘Plead The Fifth’ on Watch What Happens Live, when asked who he would “marry, shag or kill” out of his ex-girlfriends Gigi Hadid, Demi Lovato and Taylor Swift—he assigned kill to Hadid. But, as we’ve gathered from the alleged conflicts surrounding his split from Sophie Turner, the former Disney star might be one to hold a grudge.
Zayn Malik: 2015-2019
While Gigi Hadid may have moved on quickly with Zayn Malik after splitting from Joe Jonas, their relationship proved rock-solid, at least for a while.
Happy to be public with their love, the couple co-starred in a Vogue fashion shoot in Naples, Italy, for the magazine’s May issue before making their Met Gala debut the same month. Hadid also starred in Malik’s music video for ‘Pillowtalk’.
Definitely an on/off couple. They split up for three months in 2018 after making a public announcement in March, got back together briefly, and split up again in January 2019.
Tyler Cameron: 2019
After winning over the hearts of many during a stint on The Bachelorette, Tyler Cameron briefly landed on the radar of Hadid. Cameron even attended Hadid’s grandmother’s funeral in the Netherlands.
During his brief time with Hadid, Cameron admitted he wasn’t in a great financial position, which kept him anxious about dating—especially when it came to dating someone who grew up in Beverly Hills.
Opening up about those days on a podcast, he recalled having $200 to his name and sleeping on his friend’s beanbag chair.
Luckily, it seems Hadid didn’t seem to mind. They did, however, call it quits by the year’s end.
Zayn Malik (again): 2020-2021
A year later, Hadid and Malik were seen at dinner in New York. A source at the time told Us Weekly that they were “trying to make it work.”
Then, in April 2020, news broke that Hadid and Zayn Malik were expecting their first child together. Daughter Khai was born in September, and it was smooth sailing for a year and a half (at least publicly).
In October 2021, Hadid ended the relationship after an alleged physical altercation occurred between Malik and her mother, Yolanda.
“They are not together right now. They are both good parents, though,” a family friend to the Hadids told People at the time. “They co-parent. Yolanda is, of course, very protective of Gigi. She wants the best for her daughter and grandchild.”
Malik then made a statement, saying on social media, “This was and still should be a private matter, but it seems, for now, there is divisiveness, and despite my efforts to restore us to a peaceful family environment that will allow for me to co-parent my daughter in a manner in which she deserves, this has been ‘leaked’ to the press,” he wrote. “I am hopeful though for healing for all involved with the harsh words shared, and more importantly, I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves.”
As per E! News, who obtained court documents, Malik denied the allegations and pleaded no contest to four counts of harassment. He was put on probation and ordered to complete an anger management class.
Hadid and Zayn Malik remain amicable. The Guest in Residence founder admitted that co-parenting isn’t easy, but she makes it work by putting Khai at the forefront.
Leonardo DiCaprio: 2022
In late 2022, rumours swirled that Leonardo DiCaprio, fresh from a split with ex-girlfriend Camille Morrone, was dating Hadid. First photographed at a New York Fashion Week party, reports flew that the pair had been “spending a lot of time together”. DiCaprio was then in Paris during Fashion Week at the same time as Hadid, and according to TMZ both parties were seen entering the same hotel at different times. Why did this matter? Because DiCaprio was at Hotel Costes, while Hadid was at Royal Monceau – they weren’t at the same hotel officially.
“Leo is definitely pursuing Gigi,” a source told People at the time, and so began a several-month fling that involved dinner at New York hotspot Cipriani’s (they left covering their faces, but the disguise wasn’t enough) and other sightings.
However, as of February 2023, Us Weekly confirmed the relationship had unfortunately fizzled. “They both have incredibly busy careers and lives and although they tried to make time for each other, it really wasn’t enough to make things work,” a source told the outlet. “Gigi has no hard feelings toward Leo, and she thinks he’s an incredible guy. Their timing just couldn’t align, and they’ve decided to go their separate ways.”
Bradley Cooper: 2023
After a year-long tryst with DiCaprio that saw the actor end up with another younger model, Hadid has now moved on with a fellow Hollywood heavyweight of the same age.
Photographed together multiple times now—including what looked like a romantic weekend away together—it seems the supermodel, 28, is now getting to know Bradley Cooper, 48.
Multiple sources have revealed that the pair met through friends and bonded over raising young girls while being in the public eye. Hadid with Khai, 3, while Cooper shares 6-year-old Lea de Seine with Irina Shayk, making for one very interesting holiday season, we’re sure.
