It may feel like only yesterday that Gigi Hadid inadvertently revealed her pandemic pregnancy to the world during an innocuous Instagram Live.

Fast forward three years later, the supermodel and Guest In Residence founder is giving us a rare glimpse into motherhood and how her two-year-old daughter, Khai Malik, has made her “prioritise her time”.

“I think that becoming a mom has made me realise that you just really have to start to get your eggs in a row and prioritise your time between being a mom and a person and then also a working mom and person,” Hadid revealed in a new interview.

The balancing act of wrangling a toddler, starting a burgeoning cashmere empire and being one of the most watched people on the planet is undoubtedly one of the most difficult jobs in the world, but the 27-year-old isn’t just making it sound easy—she’s making it look glamorous as well.

Khai, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend Zayn Malik, has been uncharacteristically kept out of the spotlight by nepo baby standards, with Hadid revealing the choice to keep their baby anonymous was for her privacy.

However, Gigi has also provided a rare glimpse into her life as a single mother, including the day-to-day activities that she and Khai get up to in between time at their Pennsylvania farm and Manhattan apartment.

“Every day, we’re cooking in the house together. Even if it’s just her and I, she will get up on her little step-up stool and help me mix, or we do banana bread,” Hadid explained.

It’s a long way from her iconic vodka pasta days, but we’re sure we’re speaking on behalf of every adherent of Gigi’s when we politely beg for that recipe to be dropped as soon as possible.

“It’s a lot of, ‘OK, mash these bananas,’ and help her do the stuff that’s exciting to her,” Hadid noted.

“But she’ll get to a point where she’s like, ‘OK, mama, you finish that. I’m going to do Play-Doh. I’ll sit over here in my highchair and do Play-Doh and you cook.’ But it’s still fun times together and we have the funniest conversations when it’s just me cooking and her doing some craft and I love even [sic] when it’s just us.”

Given Khai’s absence from the limelight, we don’t expect Hadid to be filling a trademark for a line of children’s cookware anytime soon, but if Guest In Residence decides to bring out a line of cashmere aprons and oven mitts for toddlers, we know exactly who their first customer will be.
