Today Apple TV+ announced a slew of new original films set to be drip fed to the streaming service across the next 12 months. Amid the new releases is a highly-anticipated first look at the upcoming spy thriller, ArgylleDirected by Matthew Vaughn (the mastermind behind Kingsman) and starring alongside Henry Cavill, pop star Dua Lipa is set to make her major film debut.

Plans of the film was first unveiled back in July 2021 where The Hollywood Reporter announced the singer would create original music for the Argylle title track and score. An unexpected still of the movie was released today sharing a blonde, bobbed Lip slow dancing with Cavill.

Argylle is adapted from the novel of the same name by Ellie Conway and is expected to release onto the streaming platform in 2022. An official release date has not been confirmed. According to THR, the film will follow the world’s greatest spy as he travels around the globe and is set to be the first movie of an ongoing franchise.

Filming took place both in the US and the UK along with a string of undisclosed locations. Speaking on the film, Vaughn said in a statement,“When I read this early draft manuscript I felt it was the most incredible and original spy franchise since Ian Fleming’s books of the 50s. This is going to reinvent the spy genre.”

Lipa has expanded the talent horizons since her first two award-winning albums. She made her runway debut for Versace last year (and walked to her own music at that) and went on to launch her very own lifestyle platform and email blog, Service 95 in December. This week the 26-year-old announced she would be collaborating on a single titled “Sweetest Pie” with Megan Thee Stallion. Oh and did we mention she’s currently on tour?

Stay tuned for all of it.
