Dua Lipa may have had a few public romances, including her current relationship with Britsh actor Callum Turner, but she’s never had a problem being single. In fact, as she explored in a recent interview, it’s something she’s always welcomed with open arms.
In a new cover story for ELLE magazine, the pop star shared a little bit about her dating situation and explained how her song ‘Training Season’ from the album Radical Optimism got its name.
Describing a moment where she realised she was done with dating people who weren’t up to scratch. “I had gone into the studio and just said the line, ‘Training season’s over!’” she recalled. “When you know your worth, you know what you want and what you don’t want.”
The 28-year-old then briefly opened up about her time being single, which she experienced as important and deeply fulfilling.
“I was talking about this with one of my dancers today because she was going through a breakup—when I was single, I didn’t wish it away,” she said. “You learn so much about yourself, you know, whether it’s going on a date or spending that time alone.”
“In the silence, you figure out who you really are,” she continued. “In the grand scheme of things, I was doing research.”
Turner and Lipa have been spotted openly engaging in some PDA since early January 2024.
The couple first ignited rumours when footage emerged of the two dancing at an afterparty for the premiere of Turner’s show Masters of the Air. Lipa presumably attended the event to support Turner, 33, who stars in the Apple TV+ series alongside Austin Butler, Sawyer Spielberg, Barry Keoghan, and Lauren McQueen, as she had no other affiliation to the series.
The British actor’s last known relationship was with The Crown actress Vanessa Kirby, whom he dated for about four years before parting ways in 2020. Meanwhile, Lipa recently dated French film director Romain Gavras, 42, with news of their breakup only circulating the news cycle at the end of 2023. Before that, she had dated Anwar Hadid, brother of Gigi and Bella Hadid.
