When Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds exchanged vows during their 2012 plantation wedding, they must have pledged to “troll and pay tribute” rather than the traditional “have and hold”. What else then can account for the decade-long public jests at one another’s expense?
Now, it seems that the couple have resolved to use their social media platforms for good. Rather than espousing witty retorts, Lively has made it her sole mission to distribute the “thirst traps” she takes for Reynolds. Reminding us all that she’s the ultimate “Instagram boyfriend” in her wake.
The Lively-Reynolds’ latest affection-disguised-as-humour post came following the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike, with the patriarch of the family promoting the upcoming third film in the Deadpool trilogy after being disallowed by the union.
Always an altruistic act, Reynolds used the moment to publicly acknowledge his personal trainer, showing off his ripped physique by doing so.
Of course, with the couple known for their social media banter, 36-year-old Lively took the opportunity to re-post the photo she took to her own Instagram Story. Not to show her support for her husband, but to praise her abilities behind the camera.
“Find yourself a better Instagram boyfriend than me,” the Gossip Girl alumni wrote before adding, “I’ll wait”.
The star continued: “I know low-key capturing thirst content of your fine ass husband is not just photography, it’s public service.”
May this couple forever and always survive any impending breakup seasons.
Earlier this year, Lively posted her own tribute to their fitness coach. However, instead of commending him for transforming her body, she poked fun at her growing baby bump.
“Been doing @donsaladino’s workout program for months now. Something isn’t working,” she wrote in the caption accompanying a side-by-side picture of her before and after falling pregnant with her fourth child.
Lively and Reynolds welcomed their fourth child in early 2023, subtly announcing the news with a bump-free family picture in honour of Super Bowl Sunday. Lively and Reynold already share three daughters; James, 8, Inez, 7, and Betty, 4, with the name and gender of their fourth baby currently unknown.
