Steps to the perfect sun-kissed balayage
Balayage has been high on the request list at salons everywhere ever since Gisele Bunchen’s strands put the French freehand colouring technique on the radar in the mid-2000’s. From there the low maintenance look has become synonymous with countless celebrities including Gigi Hadid, Chrissy Teigan and Jessica Alba. Balayage expert Jaye Edwards showed GRAZIA his secrets to the perfect sun-kissed balayage on his stunning client, Dominique Faludi.

STEP ONE Separate hair into four quarters, down from the forehead to the nape of your neck and across from ear to ear. Clip three sections away.
Step two Working from the bottom, take small 1cm diagonal sections and brush colour on lightly, mimicking where the sun would naturally lighten the lengths. Smudge the area where the colour ends with your fingers to soften the line and leave no harsh edges.
Step Three Repeat step two, working up the back of the head in small sections.
Step four Once you reach the front section, take the colour slightly higher to frame the face and add dimension.
TIP: The finer the sections and softer the colour application, the better the result.
