If you’ve spent any time on TikTok lately, you’ll be familiar with the viral sound taken from one of Carrie Bradshaw’s most famous voiceovers from the first season of Sex And The City. For the uninitiated, the trending snippet is as follows: “So I walked. I walked 48 blocks in $400 shoes.”

Overnight in New York, Emily Ratajkowski updated this mode for the modern decade by donning the same $248 dress in two very different ways on the same day.

Indeed, the model and author proved that morning-to-evening dressing is entirely possible. All that’s required is a little shoe change and the perfect base, which in this case was a body-con from Australian label Bec + Bridge, to suit multiple functions. Earlier in the day, the former podcaster was spotted walking her dog Colombo wearing the brand’s taupe-coloured Sania Twist dress. Styling it as a breezy summer day dress, the mother-of-one cut a casual figure by pairing it with a pair of black sneakers, sunglasses and a wrinkled leather purse.

By nighttime, Ratajkowski had swapped into a pair of strappy heels and wore the piece to the after-party for Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut, Blink TwiceShe joined the first-time filmmaker and the cast, including Channing Tatum and Naomi Ackie, at a nightclub on the Lower East Side for the celebration.

Conversations around sustainability have certainly destigmatised the idea of outfit repeating—if you could even call it that given the look was purposed for separate occasions.

But if you’re still averse to sporting the same thing for a prolonged period, perhaps look to the legions of stylish women like Ratajkowski and Kate Middleton who re-wear like it’s a badge of honour. In Ratajkowski’s eyes, get you a mini that can do both.
