Ayo Edebiri has seen her Bottoms co-star Kaia Gerber’s ultimate travel uniform and raised her a sartorial ace. The comedian and actress appeared on the evening talk show Late Night With Seth Meyers on June 12 to discuss her hometown pride and bevy of upcoming projects. To do so, Edebiri extended her love affair with Bottega Veneta by slipping into the deliciously draped stamp print dress from the Maison’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection.
The piece features a folded neckline and body-conscious fit that crescendoes into a cascading tiered skirt. However, it was the illustrative passport print motif that proved it to be the collection’s pièce de résistance. While Edebiri’s contemporaries are spending their summer enjoying the balmy Balearic islands, she is tapping into a jet-set state of mind while dutifully completing her commitments.
It was indeed this tension between work and play that underscored the Italian luxuriate’s collection. Following on from the literal world-building Spring/Summer 2024 range—a suite that marked the end of creative director Mattieu Blazy’s “Italian trilogy” and injected a global sensibility into the brand’s design lexicon—Bottega Veneta balanced the inspiring with the aspirational.
Edebiri’s recent style foray has proved the 28-year-old is a fashion darling in the making. On June 13, she recontextualised the polarising balloon pant trend in Loewe and embraced her inner “cool desert aunt” (a coin phrased by social media’s go-to stylist, Allison Bornstein) in head-to-toe Dries Van Noten. But it was her Bottega Veneta mint green suit from the Inside Out 2 premiere on June 10 that really cemented her prowess.
What will come from the press tour for the upcoming third season of The Bear? Time will tell, but to quote Stranger Things’ Joe Keery, when she’s back in Chicago we’ll feel it.
