Zimmermann never fails to bring a little bit of Australia to the Big Apple, typically in the form of textured, salty hair and luminous makeup that’s been left just a tad too long in the sun (metaphorically, of course). The international label has roots in sun and sand, but of course its gigantic presence on the world stage means it takes influence from all over. At the brand’s NYFW show earlier today, that attribute was certainly on full display.

Makeup director Jodie Boland used Bobbi Brown Cosmetics to build up beautiful skin using the Intensive Skin Serum Foundation, before draping blush (almost in reverse) over the apples of the cheeks. The point of difference was a deep unexpected eye – made up of dark kohl penciled on the lower lash line. Fresh and clean meets NYC grit – the perfect Zimmermann way.

The show was dubbed ‘Lady Beetle,’ paying tribute to astrology, lucky charms and special tokens. This reference played into the hair by way of tiny braids weaved throughout bent, messy waves. Renya Xydis described the look as being “all about charms and a twist of hippy but totally sexy and rock n roll.” It was a beautiful complement to a beautiful collection – one that felt nostalgic and fresh all at once.

With Carolyn Murphy and Candice Swanepoel in the lineup, it was a show for the books fur sure. A little bit of luck, but mostly lots of hard work.
