After many years of speculation, Zendaya and Tom Holland shared a real-life kiss in July that confirmed the pair were really dating. While fans called it many months ago the duo have remained notoriously quite. Other than the occasional birthday tribute on Instagram. For the first time in a new interview, Zendaya has gushed over the Spider-Man actor.
“There are many things, obviously, that I appreciate,” Zendaya told InStyle in a recent cover interview. “In an actor way, I appreciate that he really loves being Spider-Man. It’s a lot of pressure—you take on the role of a superhero wherever you go. To the little kid who walks by, you are Spider-Man. I think he handled that so well.
“And seeing him at work, even though he’s not a Virgo, he is a perfectionist,” the actress added.
She continued, reminiscing on filming alongside Holland for the 2019 film, Spider-Man: Far From Home, where she played lading lady Mary Jane. “Our director allowed me to come in every day [of the shoot],” she explained. “And it was cool to see how he cares so much about his work and making it right. I watched him do a fight scene all day, which is exhausting. He’d do a move, come back to the monitors, watch it, and say, ‘I can do that better.’ I’d be like, ‘Dude, you got it.’ But he wants us to be perfect, and I really appreciate that.”
As for her relationship to Holland? Zendaya simply quipped that is has been a “fun time”.
“Very charismatic,” she said. “[He] can make anybody feel comfortable and have a good laugh and a good chat. A good chat—I sound so British.”
The couple first met on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017. They struck up a close friendship and while they were rumored to be dating early on, in 2019 Zendaya was briefly seeing Euphoria co-star, Jacob Elordi. They split in September 2020.
Really, it was only a matter of time for Zendaya and Holland and we’re obsessed with these two.
