Someone needs to make a call to Botched ASAP.

The Weekend shocked fans this week when he revealed a radical new look on social media. In a totally creepy selfie, the “Blinded By The Lights” singer appeared to have undergone some major plastic surgery showing off a a swollen face, thinned-out crooked nose, chiseled jaws, super high cheekbones, over-plumped lips and surgery scars. Giving off major Cat Lady vibes, the Canadian musician,  real name Abel Makkonen Tesfaye,  looked dead-eyed and captioned the plasticy post, “Hello Ken, where’s Barbie.”

Luckily, the ultra freaky look was just as a stunt as the facial alterations were all prosthetics for the new music video for his single “Save Your Tears.” from his fourth album After Hours.

Prosthetic Renaissance Makeup-FX Studio designer Mike Marino helped the singer fake the altered face. After the video debuted, Marino took to Instagram where he revealed the makeup’s original concept which started as a rough mold of The Weeknd’s distorted face and then the addition of prosthetics to the sculpture

“My original rough sculpture and separated appliances with textures,” he captioned the gallery of pictures. “Consisting of 4 prosthetic appliances, main face being a collapsible mold.”

No word on what exactly the message is behind the exaggerated beauty look but this is hardly the first time the 30-year-old has gone for shock value lately. For months we had been asking what the hell is going on with The Weeknd’s face as the singer has been sporting a bizarre bruised, bloodied and bandaged face in various music videos and then again at the MTV Video Music Awards and the American Music Awards.

This performance art narrative is sure to continue as The Weeknd, who was shut out of any 2021 Grammy nominations, is set to perform at the Super Bowl LV on February 7.
