Leave it to Victoria Beckham to make PVC look cool, even in the heat of summer. On Tuesday, the former pop star and acclaimed designer took to social media to unveil a vibrant red iteration of what she calls “sex pants,” paired with a sheer violet knit (again brave for summer, even in the UK) and fire engine red pumps. “The plastic pants strike again so it called for a bathroom selfie #sex pants,” she captioned an Instagram post.
It comes as no surprise that the pants are pulled from her eponymous brand. She later revealed on Instagram Stories a custom pair which were made for her 17-year-old son Cruz Beckham in the same polarizing material.
The aforementioned “sex pants” Beckham is referring to harks back to December 2020 when she coined the term wearing a black iteration. “Domestic goddesses wear plastic pants! Sorting the kid’s snacks before date night… can’t wait to see what you’re wearing @davidbeckham #sexpants,” she wrote in another post.
Posh Spice recently launched her latest brand VB Body, telling GRAZIA she was on a journey to “feel sexy again.” “For quite a few years, the more time I spent working in fashion,” she says, “the more clothes I wore and I ended up buried under all these ‘fashion’ layers,” Beckham said. “So last year when I was in Miami and starting to go out again post-Covid, I wanted a change. I wanted to feel sexy again.”
She added, “It’s an old-fashioned attitude, wanting to be really thin. I think women today want to look healthy, and curvy. They want to have some boobs — and a bum.”
If “sexy” is the goal, Beckham has certainly reached it.
