Dietician unpacks Victoria Beckham's diet of fish and veggies

At 50, Victoria Beckham still flaunts a figure as slender as when she was 20. To maintain her dream body, she follows a very strict diet and has done so for over 25 years. It’s the same meal daily: grilled fish and steamed vegetables.

What’s in Victoria Beckham’s Diet?

But is this routine actually healthy? To find out, British dietitian Reema Pillai gave it a try for a week. Her findings are eye-opening. “Besides being boring, eating the same foods every day isn’t really good for us,” Pillai starts.

For the past 25 years, Victoria Beckham sticks to this monotonous meal plan, adding two tablespoons of cider vinegar every morning on an empty stomach. “She follows this with a cup of warm lemon water, relying on the acidity rather than caffeine to give her a morning boost,” says Pillai. But is that a good idea?

“Some research indicates that apple cider vinegar may help reduce blood sugar spikes after a meal, decreasing appetite,” explains Pillai. It contains natural probiotics beneficial for gut health. However, there’s a catch: “The high acidity level of vinegar can erode tooth enamel and cause nausea, especially if consumed daily.”

After her acidic morning ritual, Victoria prepares a smoothie packed with kiwi, apples, lemon, broccoli, spinach, and coconut water.

Lots of Avocados In Her Diet, Too

Victoria Beckham supplements her diet with a hefty dose of avocados. “Avocados are rich in fiber, vitamins B6, C, E, and K, and potassium. They are also a good source of monounsaturated fats, promoting healthy cholesterol levels and good skin health,” adds Pillai. However, moderation is key. She warns not to consume more than four in a day.

While some aspects of the Victoria Beckham diet might seem beneficial, it’s also clearly restrictive. Eating the same meal every day can lead to nutritional boredom and doesn’t offer a balanced array of nutrients. The cider vinegar habit has its perks but isn’t without risks. It may be better to consider a more varied and balanced approach to eating. After all, health is more than what’s on your plate; it’s about enjoying food, too.
