There’s no need to track Taylor Swift’s jet on this occasion—the songstress certainly made it to Coachella. Unlike her race-against-the-clock journey from Tokyo to Las Vegas to cheer on her Kansas City Chiefs tight-end boyfriend, Travis Kelce, at the 2024 Super Bowl, the musician descended on Indio Valley with plenty of time to spare—and in style, too.

Reports confirming Swift and Kelce’s attendance at the desert music festival began circulating in late March following the pair’s balmy island reprieve in Barbados. So, when Lana Del Rey drove in for her closing set on Day One, anticipation was at an all-time high to see the couple that has the zeitgeist in the chokehold in the flesh. (And, as we saw on social media, in high spirits as well.) Unfortunately for Lana fans—and the Do You Know There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard singer herself—Swift and Kelce didn’t show up till the second day of the weekend-long festival.

Her itinerary didn’t involve racing between stages to catch her favourite artists but rather watching the sets of Jack Antonoff, Ice Spice and Dom Dolla from the VIP section. (Notably, she danced alongside Justin Bieber, the former protégé of her archnemesis Scooter Braun, during her “Karma” co-singers performance.) Swift and Kelce were also joined by their “Polly Pocket” counterparts, Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keough, though the crowd didn’t stop Real Housewives Of New Jersey OG Teresa Giudice from getting a photo with her.

This year marked a severe departure from the last time Swift attended the festival in 2016. That took place during her short-lived “Bleachella” era when she eschewed her long honey-hued hair for a textured bleach blonde bob to watch her then-boyfriend Calvin Harris perform the song they co-wrote (“This Is What You Came For”) with Rihanna. (Antonoff and Lorde were also there, proving that time never changes, just the crowd you surround yourself with.)

With Swift gearing up to release her eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, on April 19, her festival style leant into the preppy silhouettes she’s been wearing in anticipation of the launch. Swift reached for her tried-and-tested pleated mini skirt, a leather jacket, Gucci sneakers and a baseball cap from Kelce’s podcast, New Heights. (R.I.P 2014’s American Apparel tennis skirt, you would’ve loved this look!)

Swift also carried Stella McCartney’s logo small shoulder bag from the summer 2024 collection.

The beauty of this look is that it’s so nondescript that you wouldn’t automatically associate it with ‘festival fashion’, meaning that this silhouette could easily become the next iteration of the ‘Pilates Princess’ uniform. (Albeit, a Reputation-coded take.)
