For Australian fans of Taylor Swift, the songstress’ recent visit to Sydney and Melbourne was a year-in-the-making exercise that tested their devotion, questioned their sanity and cemented their adoration for a sequin-bodysuit sporting pop supernova. But when it was revealed (per her private jet’s flight logs, naturally) that her footballer boyfriend, Travis Kelce, would join her for one night in the NSW capital, the trip took on a deeper meaning.

For those who attended her rained-out first night in Sydney, attendees purveyed first-hand the public displays of affection that they paraded in South America. (Namely: Swift changing the lyrics in “Karma” to say “the guy on the Chiefs” instead of “the screen”, Kelce vibing with her friends in family in the VIP tent and her running into his arms backstage after the show.) Now, Kelce has broken his silence on what exactly went down during their well-chronicled visit down under, revealing to his fellow athlete brother Jason Kelce on their New Heights podcast.

Watch Travis Kelce discuss his visit to Sydney with Taylor Swift below:

The conversation was prompted by the recent Philadelphia Eagles retiree asking the incumbent Super Bowl champion how his life his postseason. “A lot of false media [about my life], but I’ll tell you what wasn’t false: When I landed in Australia and seeing all the cameras,” the 34-year-old tight end explained. Kelce’s brother compared the media fanfare surrounding their relationship to that of The Beatles, but he rejected that saying that the helicopters and paparazzi that followed them around were “all because Taylor is the biggest and the best thing possible.”

Kelce continued the conversation by discussing the “exotic” animals (read: kangaroos and koalas) he and Swift encountered at the zoo. Most importantly, he gave Australian audiences his stamp of approval. “Sydney did not disappoint,” he said. “The Australians are pretty rowdy. They like to have a good time. I like to have a good time.” (News to no one who watched Kelce scream “Viva Las Vegas!” after winning the Super Bowl. “Taylor is very fond of performing in Australia because of the crowds over there and how into it they get. So shout-out to Australia for showing up,” he also added.

Unfortunately for Swift, the final day of her tour ended on a sour note after her father, Scott Swift, was accused of assaulting a photographer. The situation is currently being investigated by Australian police, yet this didn’t make the Kelces’ catch-up segment. Other highlights from the chat include Kelce acknowledging he dressed like Bluey and Bingo from the cult-favourite children’s animated show and making a promise to return on the record. Travis, bring Taylor back when you do, won’t you?
