A quiet breakup—that is, splitting from your significant other without telling anyone—appears to be the relationship trend du jour. But Suki Waterhouse and Robert Pattinson have double-handedly quelled that mode by entering a new method into the dating lexicon: a quiet engagement.
Indeed, the low-profile couple have kept every major relationship milestone to themselves. (Including saving the announcement of Waterhouse’s pregnancy until she was ready to deliver the news in the most rockstar manner).
Now, after weeks of being tabloid fodder and a quick trip to St. Lucia for a babymoon, Pattinson and Waterhouse have taken to the streets of London to sport a particular piece of jewellery. Yes, the pair will be heading to the delivery room soon, but it seems they might be heading down the aisle, too.
In the images, which you can see here, the British ‘It’ couple cut a casual figure as they ran errands through Chelsea. In one photo, the Daisy Jones & The Six star adjusted the Dior scarf she threw around her shoulders. In turn, flashing nearby paparazzi a glimpse at her emerald-shaped diamond ring.
Given the toi et moi style was worn on the musician’s left ring finger, it’s presumed the pair have used the stroll to soft launch the news to the press. While all images of the marital bijoux are slightly low definition, we’ve just managed to make out a few of the key details; two stones are held in place by a prong setting and rest on a gold band encrusted with smaller diamonds.
As Waterhouse said in Mexico during her pregnancy announcement—“I thought I’d wear something sparkly to distract you from something else I’ve got going on”—perhaps the star is using the ring as a shimmering distraction tool. What they’d be trying to divert our attention from is unclear. And as she said on stage, “I’m not sure it’s working.”
