The idea of women supporting women was on full display when Serena Williams took to social media yesterday to congratulate her friend—and now fashion designer—Kelly Rowland, on her latest partnership with the online fashion retailer JustFab. While at home, the tennis legend showed off flat braided sandals and a one-shoulder knit dress from Rowland’s new collection, which launched online earlier this month. “This dress is really cute, right? I really like it. Good Job, Kelly!” she said in the video, which she shared with her 13 million Instagram followers.
Rowland designed her debut collection in the midst of the pandemic. “I was so inspired by the miraculous power of women,” she wrote on Instagram. She also referenced the power, grace and strength of the Greek goddesses for her new lineup, which has already racked up quite the fan base, including Williams who looked especially striking in the ribbed number. “I’m about to body this dress!” the 23-time Grand Slam champion added. In addition to supporting her style savvy friends, Williams continues to explore the fashion world with a number of her own ventures. When she’s not on the court, Williams could be focusing on her nearly three-year-old clothing line, S by Serena; her eponymous fine jewelry brand; or her partnership with Stuart Weitzman. She was named Stuart Weitzman’s global spokesperson back in 2020 and was recently joined by her adorable daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., for the footwear label’s Spring 2021 campaign, titled Footsteps to Follow.
