Thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, Americans aren’t having a great summer. So Selena Gomez’s teaser videos of her much-hyped collab with BLACKPINK have been something to brighten up those hot, sweaty, sad days inside with the air conditioner.
At last, the track and video, titled “Ice Cream” have dropped. In mainly English and part-Korean, the song was actually co-written by Ariana Grande and speaks to the girl who knows her worth and wants a partner to match that bar – amid one million references to being “icy,” “double-dipping,” “sweetness” and “licking.” In fact, if you were playing a game of Word Association for the word “ice cream,” this song would be great to play in the background.

The costuming department seems to have taken style notes from Christina Aguilera’s 2006 pop hit “Candyman” video and Katy Perry’s 2010 “California Gurls” video. Take a look.
“Thank you for staying up so early!” Gomez told the girls a few days ago via video link ahead of the song’s release (BLACKPINK are in Seoul, while Gomez has been quarantining in California). She added, “I’m so stoked. I’ve been a fan of you guys and so, like, this is a big, big dream for me, and I can’t wait.”
