In the past year, designers have had to adjust the way they release collections. But consumers, too, have been reassessing what they want to spend their hard earned-at-home money on. Cue the rise of leisurewear. In fact, when many of us are still confined to the four walls of our houses, it could be argued that there’s almost no point in getting dressed at all.
Thankfully, we have celebrities and social media to remind us of the joy of fashion. To promote the release of her new music, Selena Gomez got all dressed up with no place to go, at the same time debuting former Lanvin creative director, Alber Elbaz’s new label, AZ Factory.
After leaving Lanvin five years ago, after 14 years, Elbaz debuted the first AZ Factory collection at Paris Haute Couture Week last month. The array quickly caught the attention of Gomez’s stylist, Kate Young, who grabbed a few pieces for the popstar, making her the first celebrity to endorse the brand.
Young shared three images of Gomez to Instagram overnight, showing the 28-year-old wearing two AZ Factory looks: a cream one-shoulder dress with gold embellishments and a starry pink pajama top.
Gomez pulled her hair back into a tight ponytail and had her makeup – smoky eye included – done by celebrity artist, Hung Vanngo. Later, Young shared a third look with her followers: Gomez in a black vest and knit jumper by St. John Knits and a gold chain necklace with her brunette hair in loose waves.
Kudos to Gomez and Young who have not only convinced us that it’s past time we had a reason to dress up, but that it’s also well worth keeping AZ Factory on our radar.
