May 14, 2021: Rapper and fashion icon Saweetie (who recently launched her sunglasses collaboration with Quay) knows how to make sure that all eyes are on her. The 27-year-old always brings her A-game, whether it’s for a red carpet, photoshoot, a street-style moment, or a killer selfie. Looking back at some of the hitmaker’s most iconic fashion moments through the years, it’s reasonable to ascertain that she’s an ardent fan of chainmail. The talented rapper collaborated on a barely-there bodycon chainmail dress with online retailer PRETTYLITTLETHING and recently wore a tiny toy chainmail dress by Kelsey Randall for her April 2021 Cosmopolitan cover shoot.

So naturally, her latest look (shared on Instagram yesterday) also incorporated the chainmail trend and was made up entirely of Polaroids of herself. Saweeties’s dress is a recreation of iconic 90s supermodel Gisele Bündchen’s 2004 dress debuted for an Esquire shoot. The “My Type” singer’s dress is a custom piece by celebrity seamstress and designer DaSh Gray, who GRAZIA had the chance to chat with via Instagram DM. “I work closely with the Saweetie’s stylist Byron Javar, and he came to me asking could I remake a look for him. He sent over a photo of Gisele photographed by James White. I’ve seen that photo millions of times before, and I was excited to take on this project. I had never taken on this type of unconventional challenge.” says Gray. “I love any chance to expand my artistic dexterity.”

In the accompanying caption, Saweetie wrote, “In a world full of you’s I choose ME.” Some critics shamed her for “self-admiring,” but we support her completely. Who wouldn’t choose themself if you were among one of Billboard’s finalists for Top Rap Female Artist of the year? If you eagerly want to Tap In on this iconic look, DaSh Gray (who accepts custom requests via email) can make that happen. Just show up with 55-95 (depending on measurements) polaroid snapshots of you feeling yourself, and for a reasonable $800, Dash Gray will work her magic.
