Rosetta Getty has her finger on the pulse. There was proof of that in her quietly luxurious Fall 2021 collection, and again in the newest addition to her eponymous six-year-old label: a two-in-one mask-beanie, which arrives online just as another snowstorm hits the East Coast.

While the designer certainly did not invent the balaclava (as of late, everyone from Issey Miyake to up-and-comers such as Matek have put their own spin on the classic ski style, which also had a moment on the Fall 2018 runways), it’s in Getty’s hands that the oft-kitsch accessory has been elevated to the ultimate item of luxury. Staying true to her minimalist nature, her topper is crafted from cashmere and comes in three go-with-anything colors (black, camel, and ivory).

Ultimately, though, what makes this iteration so alluring is just how many ways it can be worn. “I really like when an item can offer versatility,” Getty says of her starting point. “I wanted to [design] a beanie this season and thought, Why not make an easy grab-and-go item that serves multiple purposes but also looks good?” In fact, she adds, “When you are not wearing it as a mask, it acts as a neck warmer, so it’s really a three-in-one.” Consider it a practical-chic solution for the winter—and cozy at that.
