On Tuesday, April 11, Rina Sawayama glided — quite literally — across the red carpet at the 2021 BRIT Awards dressed in a gorgeous Balmain Spring/Summer 2019 couture gown and we honestly can’t stop thinking about it. The purple organza, pleated ruffle gown with an exaggerated train, paired with the slicked back hair and accessorized with luxurious Bulgari jewels was a moment. It’s the princess gown moment we all dream about.

The gown was originally shown on the runway at Balmain’s creative director Olivier Rousteing’s debut spring couture collection for the house two years ago. This collection was a hit among major stars and the brand’s “Balmain Army” members —  Beyoncé donned several looks from the collection (the multi colored, off the shoulder mini Bey wore to the 2019 Roc Nation pre-Grammys brunch and the white gown with oversized hat look she wore to accept her 2019 NAACP Image Entertainer of the Year Award) and Kylie Jenner wore an all pink jumpsuit to the 2019 Grammys. For our rising pop princess (that everyone needs to be listening to), Balmain added a ruffled organza bandeau bra of the same material (the original look was shown sans bra).

Sawayama‘s stylist Jordann Kelsey posted a video on her Instagram of her gliding — again, see told you she was gliding— down a corridor with the tiers of ruffled organza beautifully dancing along as she walked.

Sawayama is constantly having fun with her fashion. We saw her wear a Mugler 2021 Resort look — fresh off the runway, no less — for her NPR Tiny Desk performance. She seems to like to champion emerging and young designers, too. And considering her latest red carpet moment in Balmain, plus her nomination for the BRIT’S Rising Star award — Rina Sawayama’s fashion star is definitely on the rise and we certainly will be watching.
