That’s right, Pyer Moss will be storming the runway in Paris soon. The brand has been invited by The Chambre Syndicale/Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode to show on the Haute Couture Fall 2021 schedule as a guest member. Wow. This is a huge honor bestowed to a brand and it’s also important to note this makes Pyer Moss’ designer and founder, Kerby Jean Raymond ,the first Black American designer invited by the French fashion governing body to show officially on the Haute Couture calendar. Major.

News comes straight from French fashion journalist, Mélody Thomas. Thomas tweeted:

For all our non-Francophile readers, this translates as: “Pyer Moss is one of the brands invited for the Haute Couture fall-winter 2021-2022 season. I am like this:” The GIF sums up our sentiments exactly — we can’t wait!

Pyer Moss is already set to return to the runway, presenting Collection 4 this September, following the Met Gala in New York. The brand is known for its powerful imagery and theatrical presentation so we can’t wait to see how Kerby and the atelier amp it up even more. The Spring/Summer 2020 show, Lesson Three, titled “Sister” was a major feat of showmanship. Taking up space at ‘Kings Theater’ presenting a musical of sorts in homage to the ‘Godmother of Rock N’ Roll’ Sister Rosetta Thorpe and Black women in music, this was the fashion show experience at its peak. The collection prior to that took place at the Weeksville Heritage Center. Weeksville, founded by James Weeks in 1838, is one of the country’s first free-Black communities. Using such an historic location, Kerby presented a collection full of impact with garments adorned with the work of world-renowned artist Derrick Adams. The Pyer Moss atelier one-ups itself every season.

We can’t wait to see the collection’s direction, the theme, the location, the theatricality — it’s safe to say that we are in for quite a treat with whatever Pyer Moss comes up with for their inaugural forthcoming couture collection.
