The 7-year-old royal arrived to Westminster Abbey alongside her mother, Queen Camilla and her brother Prince George, 9, wearing a diamond horseshoe brooch pinned on her black dress. According to People, the brooch was a gift from the Queen, who famously loved horses.
It not only marked the first piece of jewelry worn by the young royal, but she also wore a hat for the first time, matching her mother with a wide-brim black hat with a bow seen from the back.
Princess Kate paid homage to the Queen by wearing two special jewelry pieces that once belonged to the monarch, including pearl drop earrings and a four-strand pearl necklace with diamond clasp. She previously wore the necklace to Prince Phillip’s funeral in April 2021.
Last week, when Kate attended a service for Queen Elizabeth where the family gave their final farewells ahead of the funeral, she chose another piece of jewelry once worn by the Queen — a white diamond and pearl pin on the lapel of her coat.
The Queen often wore poignant jewelry pieces that brought extra significance to certain occasions, something she passed on to Kate and now Charlotte.
