You loved it so nice, they did it twice: OUAI, the beloved hair and body care brand from celebrity stylist Jen Atkin, has partnered yet again with cult-fave fragrance house BYREDO on their second limited-edition collaboration. Just a year ago, they came together to give us a dry shampoo, but this time, they’re mixing it up with the OUAI x BYREDO Leave-In Conditioner Mojave Ghost.
You’ll be obsessed with this leave-in conditioner that works hard to detangle, hydrate, combat frizz, and offer plenty of heat protection up to 450 degrees, all with the scent of one of BYREDO’s most famous scents, Mojave Ghost — an woody, floral, amber scent designed to invoke the beauty and peace of the Mojave Desert. “We received a TON of requests to bring it back,” shared Atkin. “Plus, most of OUAI’s scents combine floral and musky notes, Mojave Ghost has a similar composition. The fragrance wears well in hair alone or layered with other scents. Leave-in conditioner is often used in tandem with other products, so pairing the product with a scent that works well with others was important.”
But it goes deeper than just working well in tandem with other fragrances, according to Atkin: “Also, the story of the Ghost Flower, which brings a bit of life and vibrancy to the dry, Mojave desert and can withstand heat, can be compared to how [leave-in conditioner] brings hydration and life back to dry hair and has heat protectant properties to help hair also withstand heat.”
According to Atkin, the decision to pair up with BYREDO for a second time was a no-brainer — it was more about which product they wanted to use the scent with. “This time around was pretty seamless. We knew we wanted to go with Mojave Ghost again, but decided to switch up the product,” she explained. “Leave-in conditioner is one of our cult products, same as Mojave Ghost to Byredo, so the pairing felt perfect. Plus leave-in conditioner is great for all hair types, it’s a bit more inclusive than Super Dry Shampoo. Then it was just a matter of formulating leave-in conditioner with the fragrance which our PD worked on, and bam, here we are.”
