It’s summer in the Northern Hemisphere, which means celebrities are switching up their neutral manicures (or in many cases, getting their nails lacquered for the first time since the pandemic closed nail salons across the globe) for fun, fresh hues. And by far the biggest trend we’re seeing right now is block neon nail colors, as seen on a whole host of Hollywood’s A-list.
Selena Gomez has been experimenting with a number of fruity brights in recent weeks, starting with one of the hottest hues of the year – neon green. We’ve seen the shade favored by the style set for shoes and bags (hi Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber in Bottega green) but now it’s set to become a new favorite at the nail salon, so it seems Billie Eilish was on to something.
Gomez donned the bright hue for a tropics-inspired shoot to promote her new collection with swimwear label La’Mariette and we’re obsessed with the fresh contrast the color creates with her sunset eye makeup.
It seems Gomez enjoyed the bright nail color, as soon after she paid another visit to her go-to manicurist Tom Bachik to update her neon digits. This time she chose a striking papaya shade.
The Kardashians have been proponents of neon nails for years, but this year they’ve stepped it up a notch or two by embracing unconventional shades. Khloé Kardashian – who is often partial to a bright pink mani with XXL coffin nails – chose another of-the-moment hue for zesty yellow nails to match her new neon campaign for Good American.
And of course, Kardashian’s sister Kylie Jenner is perhaps the biggest fan of colorful nails, having worn almost every hue over the years. But most recently she’s been gravitating towards brights almost exclusively, and we love her latest manicure – neon orange wet-look nails with droplets.
