I know what you’e thinking, “didn’t New York Fashion week just end?” And yes, it did. But fashion never sleeps and now, we are coming up on the ever-so anticipated London Fashion Week. Pictures of celebrities attending events are already pouring in, and last night LFW 2021 kicked off with the “Opening Night” party at The Windmill in the Soho district of London. Naomi Campbell, timeless star supermodel, attended the event and showed up in a layered, dark blue ensemble.

The floor-length piece cascaded in various shades of blue, starting off light at the bodice but getting darker with each layer as it hit the floor. She accessorized with a black clutch purse and a big pair of black sunglasses. She was joined by the likes of American singer, Kehlani who dressed in a green turtleneck and slacks combo. Both the top and the pants seemed to feature blurred, hand-painted floral patterns. Editor-in-Chief of British Vogue Edward Enninful also posed with Campbell, wearing a black peacoat over gray pants and a white button down.

It’s only fitting that Campbell attended the opening of London Fashion Week, as she is arguably not only the most famous model in the world, but the most famous model from England specifically. She epitomizes what it means to be a British model and reinvigorated the industry when she hit the scene in the 1980’s. She walked her first ever runway for Yves Saint Laurent in 1987 and first posed for the cover of American Vogue in 1989, the first Black woman to ever do so.

Now, her legacy lives on as a cornerstone of the fashion industry where she is a coveted presence. With her appearance at the opening party, we’re sure London Fashion Week will be off to a great start.
