Michael Kors and the luxe Italian sportswear line ellesse are giving sporty ’70s styles a modern spin through their new collaboration.

The Michael Kors x ellesse capsule is a glamorous celebration of vintage athleisure sportswear. The inspiration instantly comes through in the form of track jackets, sweatbands, and short drawstring joggers with colored trim.

The 24-piece collection includes both men’s and women’s apparel, a retro swimsuit, a sweatshirt dress, and more, as well as accessories including a slide sandal, white tennis sneaker, and bucket hat.

All are emblazoned with an emblem that combines signature traits from both brands — the Michael Kors “MK” logo is featured on ellesse’s tennis-and-ski red and orange half circle design. There are also two Michael Kors designs, the “Hudson” backpack and “Bradshaw” shoulder bag, that got the mixed-logo treatment.

The idea behind the Michael Kors x ellesse capsule is to give a “luxurious and modern take on retro athleisure,” as the release states. And the collection — and campaign — certainly deliver.

To model the collaboration, the brands tapped model Emily Ratajkowski and Brooklyn-based rap musician Jay Critch (whose music plays in the companying video) to front the campaign. Models Lexi Boling, Herzen Clerge, Lucas Ucedo, as well as musician Wolftyla and Japanese internet sensation Kemio also bring the sportswear styles to life, on a tennis court, naturally.

Shot by renowned fashion photographer Lachlan Bailey in Miami, the cast recreated a scene that could be straight from a tennis club in the ’70s in their retro-inspired outfits — which was part of Kors’ inspiration.

The collection is available to shop now at michaelkors.com and will be brought to life in a series of pop-up installations and activations around the world.
