Single ladies around the world wept at the news this week when it broke that Michael B. Jordan was off the market.
For the first time ever with someone, the Just Mercy actor made things Instagram official as he posted two photos with his new girlfriend, Lori Harvey. In one of the moody pics, the beaming beauty looked at the camera, while Jordan wore shades. In the second picture, they inched closer together, looking like they were about to kiss. Harvey then shared some candid shots with her man in a cute collage, which she captioned with a heart.
On January 13, Jordan then wished his new girlfriend a Happy 24th Birthday, posting a sweet photo and accompanying video of the two in them looking loved up in the snow.
The new couple first sparked dating rumors when they were spotted arriving in Harvey’s home town of Atlanta before Thanksgiving. Then, in December, they were seen in Salt Lake City together. Fans also put two and two together when Jordan posted a clip of himself snowboarding on New Year’s Eve, while Harvey shared some videos of snow on her social media account.
The confirmation has also quashed previous rumors that the 33-year-old actor was dating his Black Panther costar, Lupita Nyong’o.
Back in November, Jordan was named the PEOPLE’s “Sexiest Man Alive” and laid out what he liked in a partner.
“A sense of humor, true understanding, because [an actor’s] life is not conducive to a relationship — it’s really not,” the Creed star admitted. “Somebody that’s nurturing. I’ve got a list. That’s probably why my ass is still single, but yeah, it’s a list.”
Naturally, the internet scrambled to find out just who Harvey is. Here’s what we know about the lucky lady.
She’s Got A Famous Family Member
Harvey is the daughter of comedian and TV personality Steve Harvey (yes, THAT Steve Harvey). Her mother Marjorie Elaine Harvey, married The Steve Harvey Show host in 2007 and he went on to adopt all three of her children. Harvey remains close to him and she even accepted a Daytime Emmy in 2018 on his behalf.
She has Some high-profile exes
Jordan is hardly the first famous person Harvey has dated. In July 2019, she made headlines after it was reported that she was dating hip-hop mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs. Besides the nearly three-decade age gap, the couple raised some eyebrows due to the fact that Harvey reportedly dated his son, Justin Combs, first. The 51-year-old hip-hop mogul never confirmed the two were an item but the paparazzi captured photos of them vacationing together on multiple occasions. By October of that year, Diddy was spotted with another woman and Harvey immediately stopped following him on Instagram.
By the end of 2019, Harvey was in a relationship with Ciara’s ex, rapper Future. This was the second time the two were linked as they were thought to have been together back in 2018. In August 2020, they reportedly called it quits again. Harvey was involved with another hip-hop artist Trey Songz, teasing fans by showing up on the “Slow Motion” rapper’s Instagram a number of times. More confirmation came from Meek Mill when he mentioned the model in one of his tracks.
“I got Lori Harvey on my wish list/That’s the only thing I want for Christmas,” he rapped before changing the lyrics to: “I took Lori Harvey off my wish list/that’s what trigga Trey wanted for Christmas.”
Harvey was also previously engaged to Dutch soccer player Memphis Depay.
She has dabbled in modeling
In addition to posing up a storm for the gram, Harvey has modeled professionally. She has walked in several fashion shows, most notably Dolce & Gabbana several times, during Paris and Milan Fashion Weeks. Standing at just 5 feet 3 inches, Harvey is also notably shorter than most models in the industry.
“Being that I’m not a traditional model, it’s kind of cool because I feel like it’s opening up a door for a new generation of models that look more like me versus being 5-foot-10 and super skinny [with a] super flat stomach and super skinny legs like everything looks so perfect,” she previously told BET.
She once HAd Olympic Dreams
Before stomping runways, Harvey was busy riding horses. When she was growing up in Atlanta, she was a competitive equestrian. Her natural talent in the sport won her several awards as she rose up in the junior leagues. Colleges all across the country invited Harvey to be a recruited equestrian athlete and she began began attending Florida College with the dream of representing the USA in the Olympics. But it all came crashing down one day in a tragic training accident. Harvey broke her back and tore her MCL in the accident, ending her competitive horseback riding days for good.
Harvey told Vogue in 2018 that she eventually accepted her fate, and has never let it stop her from riding horses casually today. “I wanted to be a professional equestrian,” she recalled, “but I got injured badly a few years ago, so now I only ride leisurely.”
