Meghan Markle And Prince Harry

The royal podcasters have arrived. After signing a multiyear deal with Spotify to produce and host their own programs through their audio producing company, Archewell Audio, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have released their first official podcast episode.

In the highly-anticipated debut on Tuesday, December 29, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex reflect on 2020 while thanking frontline workers and paying tribute to those who have suffered losses due to the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic.

“We’re glad you’re here,” the 36-year-old red-headed royal told listeners. “As we all know, it’s been a year and we really want to honor the compassion and kindness that has helped so many people get through it.”

“At the same time, to honor those who have experienced uncertainty and unthinkable loss,” Markle added. “Our thoughts have been with you, especially during this holiday season.”

For the special holiday episode, the couple — who left the royal family and moved to the United States earlier this year —  highlighted a number of their high-profile friends and change-makers including Elton John, Tyler Perry, Stacey Abrams and James Corden, who looked back on 2020 via sound bites. Others guests featured in the podcast include Christina Adane, José Andrés, Brené Brown, Rachel Cargle, Deepak Chopra, Matt Haig, Hussain Manawer, Naomi Osaka, and George the Poet, whom they congratulated on his recent engagement to Sandra Diana Makumbi.

“I will say, no matter what life throws at you guys, trust us when we say, love wins,” the former Suits actress shared.

“Love always wins,” Prince Harry reiterated.

The famous pair also reminisced about their own love story and played the song “This Little Light of Mine,” which played at the very end of their 2018 wedding at St. George’s Chapel.

“It was the music that we wanted playing when we started our lives together because as we all know, ‘darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that,'” the 39-year-old beauty said.

Her husband then added to the sweet sentiment, saying, “The message of this song is one we hold so dearly. It’s about using the power we each have within us to make this world a better place.”

But the episode’s highlight was undoubtedly the moment that the couple’s 18-month-old son Archie made an adorable cameo.

“You can speak into it,” the proud mom told the tot, referring to the microphone.

“Archie, is it fun?” she asked her baby boy, to which he replied, “Fun?”

The proud parents then got Archie to say, “Happy New Year,” while giggling.
