Last night on the east coast, as we all prepared for bed, on the west coast, Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox spread the news of their engagement via Instagram. Naturally, we stayed up a few hours extra to indulge in the romantic proposal. Both parties posted a video showing the moment Machine Gun Kelly got down on his knee at the top of a staircase. As soon as Fox realizes what is happening, she too kneels to say “yes.” Although the moment itself was exceptionally well played, let’s get into the most question everyone is waiting for: the engagement ring.
Given Megan Fox’s affinity for high glam and modern taste, we expected no less than a ring that packs many carats and a story. Fox’s ring is one of the most popular styles of engagement rings of choice among A-listers today, the Toi et Moi (en français for “you and me”). It doesn’t get much more romantic than that. You may be familiar with the style from Ariana Grande’s engagement back in December 2020, where the singer opted for the style in two adjoining oval cut diamonds, set on an east-west axis on a platinum band topped with a pearl.
The Toi et Moi’s two stones meet to symbolize the firm union of marriage. The two stones represent the future bride and the groom; in Megan and Machine Gun Kelly’s case, a diamond and an emerald (their birthstones), both with a teardrop cut. Believe it or not, the glistening gems aren’t the most surprising part of the ring. The groom-to-be enlisted British designer Stephen Webster to help memorialize his intoxicating love story with Megan in the ring.
The stones are “set on two magnetic bands of thorns that draw together as two halves of the same soul forming the obscure heart that is our love,” Machine Gun Kelly explained in an Instagram post. Megan took to her followers, concurring the message mentioning, “Somehow, a year and a half later, after having through hell together and having laughed more than I ever imagined possible, he asked me to marry him. And just like in every life before this, and as in every life to follow, I said yes… and then we drank each other’s blood”. Now, all that waits are the wedding details, which we can predict being one for the books.
